THERAPY : FAQs
Explore the FAQs below to learn more about our therapy process and what to expect during your visits.
Physical & Occupational Therapy
What’s the difference between physical therapy and occupational therapy?
Physical therapy focuses on improving strength, mobility, and movement patterns after injury or surgery. Occupational therapy helps patients restore the ability to perform daily activities like dressing, bathing, and work-related tasks—especially after upper extremity injuries.
How long are therapy sessions, and how often will I need to come in?
Most sessions last 45 to 60 minutes. Frequency depends on your condition but is typically 2–3 times per week.
Do I need a referral to begin therapy?
Many patients do. Wisconsin is a direct access state for physical therapy, but insurance plans may still require a referral—our team can help you check.
What should I wear to therapy?
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows movement. If you’re being treated for a lower-body condition, shorts are ideal.
Hand Therapy
What types of injuries or conditions does hand therapy treat?
Hand therapy addresses conditions like tendon injuries, fractures, arthritis, nerve compression (like carpal tunnel), post-surgical rehab, and trauma to the hand, wrist, or elbow.
Will I work with a certified hand therapist (CHT)?
Yes. Our team includes certified hand therapists with advanced training and experience in upper extremity rehabilitation.
How is hand therapy different from general therapy?
Hand therapy is highly specialized and focuses specifically on the complex anatomy and functional recovery of the hand, wrist, and forearm.
Sports Therapy & Return-to-Sport Testing
What is sports therapy?
his is a functional assessment used to determine whether you’re ready to safely return to sports or high-level activity after an injury or surgery.
What is return-to-sport testing?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing and flat shoes. Avoid jewelry, makeup, and contact lenses.
Do you treat athletes of all levels?
Yes! From student-athletes to weekend warriors to elite competitors—we customize care to match your sport and goals.
